When I was single I always wanted to go somewhere random for shabbos. Now that I am married I still want to and my husband wouldnt mind it either. Does anyone know how I can get to families who live in New Square or Williamsburg or anywhere else like that for shabbos? Any other suggestions on where to go for shabbos?

You want to spend Shabbos with the Amish?

    #706477

Atlantic City is a great idea now that shabbos will soon be ending earlier…

    Shabbos with the Amish?

Shabbish with the Amish. Sounds like the title of a Jewish reality-television show. 🙂

    That could work too. 🙂

Of course, whenever I think about Jews and the Amish, I’m always reminded of the scene in “The Frisco Kid” when Gene Wilder runs towards the Amish workers yelling “Landsmen, Landsmen…” and his look of bewilderment when they ask him “Dost thou speak English?” 🙂

Go to New Square. Its an unbelievably wonderful spiritual experience. They have a great sense of hachnosas orchim. I dont know who you can call though. When I go it’s to my cousin so I have a place to stay with food and all. The kabolas shabbos is very inspiring.

I spent shabbos with a chasidish family in Montana. But they were on vacation from Monsey.

Wolfish: I was just talking about that scene from The Frisco Kid the other day. Many of us were laughing as if the movie had just come out. In my mind (limited as it may be) that is one of the funniest movie lines of all time. There are a couple of Mel Brooks lines that are equally as funny.
