In my family, the kids spend erev sukkos making a huge paper chain decoration for our sukkah. It is very easy to make. Simply cut a paper into ten strips, give the kids glue, and that’s all. It’s a beautiful decoration and it really adds to the sukkah. Anybody have any other suggestions for nice decorations that are easy to make.

This year, I collected pinecones around the neighborhood and we’ll be rolling them in glue, then in glitter, and hanging them up — pretty and shimmery. A more involved project I did today is hanging lamps. I saved some opened cans of olives, washed them out, and then punched out designs in them with a hammer and nail. Then just stick a tea light candle in the bottom and voila, hanging lamps that look gorgeous at night. You could also paint or cover the can in paper or contact paper before you punch out the design, but I’m here in Israel and think my cans of Kibbutz Yavne olives are cute the way they are.

We also cover the bottom half of the walls with fabric and then drape some more from beam to beam which looks really nice too.

With straight pins you pin on the flowers all around until the ball is all covered. Hand from the succah ceiling.
