According to Zagat, below is a sample of the menu. Most people who use this site really do not have interest in squid, nor would they eat cheese at the same meal as lamb. Would you care to clarfiy why you would suggest this place? I do have to say that the prices seem fair.

Bombay Calamari Fried Masala squid sauteed with bell pepper & red onion. $6.00
Spinach Samosa Home made cheese & spinach wrapped in a light pastry. $5.00
Meat Samosa Spicy seasoned minced lamb wrapped in a light pastry. $6.00

September 2, 2010 3:34 am at 3:34 am #885039charliehallParticipantJose,
Dakshin has two restaurants, one kosher and one not. The non-kosher one will be closing.
The kosher one is at 1154 First Avenue between 63rd & 64th Streets, Tel: (212) 355-4600, Fax: (212) 355-4614. It is under OK supervision.
While it is a meat restaurant its vegetarian entrees are also outstanding — and very inexpensive, only slightly more expensive than the many kosher dairy Indian restaurants in Manhattan that are open on Shabat (owned by non-Jews). (The mashgiach tamidi needed in a meat restaurant does cost!)
September 2, 2010 5:34 pm at 5:34 pm #885040bptParticipantSchnitzi on Coney and Ave I. Food is always fresh, and the scene is always hopping. Sweet potato chips are a real must.
September 2, 2010 6:44 pm at 6:44 pm #885041theprof1ParticipantBrooklyn best meat is Glatt Ala Carte. In Manhattan best meat is Prime Grill. Best ambiance plus quality of food is Abigael’s. Best dairy in Brooklyn is Venezia. In Manhattan best dairy is Va Bene.
September 3, 2010 1:31 am at 1:31 am #885043mybatMemberHaven’t been in NY in a while! Wow! Could help you out with restaurants in LA or Mexico city! Maybe I should escape to NY with the Mr. And leave the kids for a few days, it really sounds appealing!!
Here all restaurants have mashgiach temidis except for 1 or 2.

In Teaneck Mabat is amazing and ETC Steakhouse.
Also, Jose it doesn’t look like that restaurant is kosher with meat and cheese on the menu.

July 16, 2012 6:55 pm at 6:55 pm #885049RsozMemberGlatt ala carte on 18th ave in Brooklyn is by far the best restaurant I’ve ever eaten at! T-fusion doesn’t come close! What’s the deal with T-fusion not allowing you a choice of side dishes with their very small menus of steaks? What if you don’t WANT French fries?! They don’t give you a choice,,,not exactly a good place for a dieter or someone who just doesn’t happen to want French fries with their steak! Glatt ala carte has a much more varied and extensive menu, many sides to choose from, delicious appetizers and salads… Everything I’ve tried there has been absolutely delectable! And their service and ambience are classy and wonderful…better than any manhattan restaurant! Try it!
