Unfortunately I Must Leave You

I did not want to say anything until I clearly checked the sources of what I had heard, but a number of very choshuve rabbonim in my oilam, which is Chabad, have come out against commenting on news sites.

After much deliberation, I have decided that I must follow their instruction to the utmost degree and refrain from any and all comments and participation in online forums except for mazel tov or answering requests for learning or tehillim.

I do feel that this forum is one of the best run and best monitored, but the particular Daas Torah which I follow has come out with clear instructions and I have no real choice but to go according to the instructions of the rabbonim who guide my community throughout the world. I know that there are other opinions here, and sadly I know very well that as with most instructions, there are many in my community who are paying them no heed. I choose to be among those who listen; it is not as if a comment here can change the world or change the course of current events or even change someone’s beliefs or opinions.
