Do you ever imagine what it will really be like living in the time of Moshiach–living in a time of geulah?
Going to the Bais HaMikdosh with your family? No more war? Everyone getting along? Feeling a connection to HKB”H like never before?
Also, I love to hear what the seforim say, what it will really be like. It gives an added boost in wanting to do the right thing to get there. Of course I work on doing everything l’shem shomayim, but this is just one of those shelo lishma’s that I’m working on.
Hmmm, I also wonder if all crises will come to an end: shidduchim, illness, childlessness etc.
December 16, 2009 7:09 pm at 7:09 pm #671320bombmaniacParticipantyes…in fact there was a story that go me thinking…mishpacha magazine published a story in which it said that there was a rabbi that was liaising with the pope to try and get us back the klei kodesh taken by titus and kept in the vatican. IMAGINE!!! THE ACTUAL KEILIM USED IN THE BEIS HAMIKDASH!!! talk about the olympic torch taking a world route…imagine how amazing that world tour would be! people would follow them all around the globe back to their plaxce in eretz yisrael! there would be danciung in the streets! THE KEILIM OF THE BEIS HAMIKDASH!!! that is but a taste of the jubilation that would be when moshiach comes and the beis hamikdash is rebuilt to its full glory!
December 16, 2009 9:08 pm at 9:08 pm #671321bptParticipantI don’t know where to begin writing about a topic like this, as there is so much to write. But it hurt to see a tag line like this thread only get 3 posts… cmon folks.. we should be at 100 posts by tomorow!
Oddly enough, there are two people I want to see:
my father’s father (whom I’m named after) He came to America in the 1930s when yiddishkeit was a real struggle.
Pincha ben Elazar – I always admired his courage to stand up and take a stand when no one esle did.
So, what is everyone else looking forward to?
December 16, 2009 9:10 pm at 9:10 pm #671322Be HappyParticipantWe learnt that when Moshiach comes we will pick bread from the trees – The brocho we say is Hamotzi LECHEM which is for when Moshiach comes iy”H

December 16, 2009 11:02 pm at 11:02 pm #671324live4HashemMemberI’m in Isreal now and was never told what to do when Moshiach comes if you’re in Israel. Do you run for a number two/cab and run to the beis hamikdash or do you also get picked up from an eagle? It sounds like a funny question but I always wondered what to do because Moshiach is definately on its way
December 17, 2009 10:03 am at 10:03 am #671325positiveaynayimMemberImagine–v’shavu bonim ligvulom! All of our family and friends, living together in the same country! We won’t have to get on a plane to get to all their simchos; we can walk down the block and have a shabbos seudah together; keeping in touch with long time friends won’t mean “so, how old are your kids now?” We’ll see each other being oleh regel….AMAZING!
Does anyone know if it will be like right before ma’amad har sinai where all sicknesses were healed? Everyone will feel good and behave normally?
And from what I understand everyone will have yiras shomayim, and love doing mitzvos?
December 17, 2009 7:18 pm at 7:18 pm #671326ChopsMemberDecember 17, 2009 9:28 pm at 9:28 pm #671327positiveaynayimMemberRav Yechezkel Abramsky ZT”L, is quoted to have said in the name of the Vilna Gaon that Milchemes Gog U’Magog will last 12 minutes.
That being said, we don’t know what kind of suffering it will lead to, but now is our chance to do the right hishtadlus to make sure we (personally) are zoche to be on the geulah side.
According to the gedolim of our time, we are going through tremendous suffering–the birthpangs of Moshiach, and like in Mitzrayim by Makas Choshech (when 4/5 of yidden died because of their lack of emunah), we are losing thousands of yidden spiritually, to assimilation.
I try to focus on what will be afterwards, so it will motivate me to daven for Moshiach. I heard recently from a prominent speaker, that we should daven for Moshiach for Hashem’s sake–we can’t even fathom the pain Hashem is in.
December 17, 2009 10:58 pm at 10:58 pm #671328sbergerMemberchops: the negative prophecies don’t have to come true. But if they do, they are supposed to be pretty bad.
I think the issue of whether sicknesses will be healed and shidduchim and so on is actually a machlokes in the gemara, which then is a machlokes rishonim how to poskin. I think the Rambam poskins that there is no difference between now and yemos hamashiach besides the beis hamikdash and no more shibud malchios. Other rishonim hold that the other opinion in the gemara is the ikkar, that yemos hamashiach will be miraculous. I don’t have the seforim in front of me at the moment, so feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

December 18, 2009 3:58 am at 3:58 am #671330HIEParticipantI was once speaking to a person, he told me that he HOPES moshiach doesn’t come in our generation because even if it only lasts 12 minutes, we all know the damage that can be done in 12 minutes. ONe hydregon bomb and 1/3 of America WIPED out. SCARY!!
And we all know that Iran Yemach Shemam VZICHRo, has or very soon will have the equipment to wipe america and other countries off the map. i get the chills when i think about the war of gog u’magog, HELP!!!
December 18, 2009 2:38 pm at 2:38 pm #671331positiveaynayimMemberWhat is there to be scared of if you are doing what Hashem wants you to do? We’re not all going to be wiped out chas v’shalom. Ani Ma’amin B’emunah Sheleima B’Vias HaMoshiach, V’af Al Pi Sh’Yismahmaya IM KOL ZEH Achakeh Lo B’Chol Yom Sheyavo!
From what I understand we can’t even fathom the blissfulness of living in geula. Our job is to do what Hashem expects of us, and focus on that l’shem shomayim, surely not to be scared off by the milchoma. That’s Hashem’s cheshbon.
This thread was meant to inspire us to be and do better so we can look forward to a time of peace, not to chalila scare people.

I want to see my father, grandfather, brothers, and uncles doing avodas Beis Hamikdash, because they are Kohanim, and I have always thought about what this would be like. Most of all, I want to see a world in which Jews do not have to keep a “low profile” ever again.
December 20, 2009 4:21 am at 4:21 am #671335tamazaballMembersomeone ones told me when i was younger that when moshiach is gonna come the war of gog umamgog will bring 7 days of darkness and hashem will check everypersom out to see who is worthy enough to see the geula, well that really traumatized me , and everytime they mention moshiach im very very scared!!

I would like to meet the gedoilim of all the previous generations, in particular those who lived during my own time but whom I was not zoiche to meet.
I would like to see Reb Yom Tov Ehrlich in concert with Lipa, accompanied by the Levi’im (who I guess would be led by R’ Boruch Levine).
And I would like to stand in the azarah on a hot day and whistle for a waiter to bring me a cold Mei Eden (not the overpriced stuff sold under that trademark today but real water from Gan Eden), and see that said waiter is none other than Barack Hussein Obama.

It will be announced that “Hashem Hu HaElokim,” with the same tune as “Hashem Hu Malkeinu” but including some minor word changes to reflect the fact that there is no more “shitas hakoifrim”, will be the new anthem of the Kingdom of Yehuda veYisroel.
December 20, 2009 11:27 pm at 11:27 pm #671339happyOOTerParticipantoomis, that was beautiful!
My daughter gets scared sometimes – she feels really strongly a desire for Moshiach to come, but there is a YBC song that scares her – It’s about a neshama being scared to be born, not knowing what lies ahead. I understand her fear, especially coming from a child – we don’t know what it would actually be like to experience the geula. All I can say is that HaShem will take care of us. What more can we ask for?

December 21, 2009 12:57 am at 12:57 am #671342Be HappyParticipantI love this thread. I can’t wait for Moshiach. When Hashem brings us Moshiach He will give us the Koach to withstand Chevlei Moshiach. Are we honestly waiting for the Geulo?
I Look around at my neighbours – four of them are doing major construction work to their houses worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Would they happily leave their houses to move to Eretz Yisroel? I felt good when one neighbour told me she put the cheapest tiles down in her kitchen because Moshiach is coming so she will happily leave her kitchen behind! What is with those who spend a small fortune in decorating their gardens?
I can’t wait for there to be peace among Klal Yisroel -Chasidim yekers litvaks etc. May Moshiach come speedily in our days Amen

There are enough reasons to believe that the renovated houses will be transported to EY, and even a source (no time to check) that says the whole world will be transformed into kedushas EY.
Even the Lubavitcher Rebbe ZYA said that we have to prepare for 20 years ahead while living with the reality that Moshiach could come every minute.
When I jokingly told a Chabad shaliach who needed an expensive piece of property in the most expensive place in the US that if he waited 10 minutes he could get it for $2 because everyone would be moving to EY, the above was his very serious response.
Also for the record the song referred to in a prior post is by Abie Rotenberg and is called Neshomele.
December 21, 2009 4:41 pm at 4:41 pm #671344positiveaynayimMemberI also remember learning that the houses will be transported–renovated or not. I think what matters it what the people who live in those houses believe, and truly want to live in E”Y- b’yimos moshiach. Just the thought alone of all klal yisroel living in true shalom in the world–and everyone recognizing Hashem Echad–what could be more profound and uplifting?
Did anyone ever hear that all the mountains will be flattened out, and will make room for all of klal yisroel?
Imagine all of us by the Bais Hamikdosh davening together, answering that first Amen Y’hay Sh’may Raba????

Rivkales, what you wrote is basically a translated summary of the Rambam above. However, you mean mekarev, to bring near, and not chas vesholom mecharev, to destroy!
December 22, 2009 2:22 pm at 2:22 pm #671348positiveaynayimMember“Ela, shibud malchuyos bilvad”–that in and of itself sounds like a tremendous change of what the world is like now. Please clarify: does this mean there will be no more missionaries? No more terrorism? No more captives? No more wars?

December 30, 2009 4:33 am at 4:33 am #671353not2brightMemberI heard that in the war of Gog U’Magog, many people will die, but it might also mean spiritually- like right now. I take from that that we must realize that spiritual death is as bad as (or worse than) physical death, and when we realize our tremendous loss, he will come.
December 30, 2009 5:00 am at 5:00 am #671354charliehallParticipantI don’t know what the change will be. I’m not even sure that I will able to be in Eretz Yisrael because even Mashiach won’t repeal torah prohibitions and my wife will still need to pay her medical school debts which she would not be able to do in EY. All I can do is to keep learning and doing mitzvot, and praying that I’ll be part of the generation that finds out what the change will be!
