A Hispanic male, has been spotted at a Jewish grocery store where he works at, in the Tri State area wearing Tzitzis! He is in no way Jewish, and when asked ”why he is wearing the Tzitzis?”, he responds in a joking manner that he found them someplace and they keep him warm!

In your opinion, do you think this is a Be’Zayon to a Davar Kaddos?!

p.s. He wears them like a real Yeshiva guy with the Tzitzis out & all!

Thanks for your comments, have a wonderful day!

More of a curiosity and if he found them I assume they are possul. If he bought them, the sad thing is that the store owner could be fined for discrimination if he does not sell the tzitzis to him.

He’ll probably stop in due time.

Yes. I do agree it is a bizayon, but what can you do? You can’t quite ask him to stop wearing them…

Go and give him a sweater and ask for the Tzitzis

Perhaps we should all keep rosaries and other such objects on hand for trading in just these circumstances. He gives us the rosaries, he gives us the tzitzis.

Tell him a 5 cornered garment is a bigger “hiddur”.

He gives us the rosaries, he gives us the tzitzis.

That should read “We give him the rosaries…”

    EDITED

I’m sorry wolf, this post should not have been edited. We thought your sarcasm was directed at another poster, not at yourself. If you’d like please repost, although at this point the humor will have been mostly lost

Jsut for the record: tsitis are NOT a ‘dvor shebekedusah”. This only applies to tefillin, sefer torah and the like. A neged with tsitis is a “dvar mitzvah”. When the tsitis become possul , you can throw them away , also the actual begged. Not the case with ‘dovor shebekedusha”

    Request:

If a post is going to be edited, can the mod who does the editing please identify him/herself so we can follow up with them as to why the post was edited?

    Thanks,

    The Wolf

Thank you for your candor, Mod (whoever you are).

Nonetheless, I think you should give thought to my request. This way in case something like this happens again we can follow up. And, if the editing is correct, the mod can tell us why it was edited so we don’t do it again.

    The Wolf

We HAVE given thought to your request

Working in a Jewish grocery store might have influenced him and may be on his way to becoming a Yid.

Wolf – You can always respond in the thread to the (unknown) mod. Usually they can figure out who you are referring to.

Which is exactly what happened in this case and resulted in a editing retraction

This discussion ends here. We are cluttering up this thread.

what about the Pope, and the Cardinals who are in the habit of wearing a little red yarmulkes? What can we trade with them?
