October 2, 2009 2:52 pm at 2:52 pm #986357mepalMemberHow can a yeshiva ‘require’ boys to go to one specific camp?
October 2, 2009 3:30 pm at 3:30 pm #986360HIEParticipantmepal, you never heard of that, many yeshivos require it these days
October 2, 2009 4:09 pm at 4:09 pm #986361JoseMemberMepal,
It is a continuation of Yeshiva. Yeshivas (not elementary) very commonly go until chodesh Av. A number of Yeshivos have the last month in camp.
We just read about the pertira of its Rosh Yeshiva, Hogoan R’ Zelik Epstien, ZT”L.
The inqiurer may want to go back and read some of those articles and posts to get some idea.
EDITED due to no longer being applicable. Your point was well taken though.

Rav Vorhand’s shtiebel on the Upper West Side? I do not know if he is still alive or who runs the shul now, but Rav Vorhand is/was a Chassidishe rov who had held some sort of office in Czechoslovakia. His shtibl was known as one of the frummest shuls on the UWS in my day.
