Any new fruit that you haven’t eaten or new clothing.

In short, anything that you would have made a shehechiyanu on whether or not it’s Rosh HaShannah.

Ah, that’s a good question. I personally am not a big fruit eater and I just about never try any new fruit, so I don’t know offhand. I believe it’s 12 months, but I can’t say that I’m certain about that, so please don’t rely on it. I’m sure someone else will know the correct answer to that question.

But the general rule is correct. Anything for which you would have otherwise made a Shehechianu can be used for the bracha on Rosh HaShannah.

Whether fruit or suit, it needs to be something you are excited about in order to say the beracha. If you don’t have a fruit, you still say shehechiyanu in Kiddush anyways on the Yom Tov.

I think its for a new fruit that you haven’t eaten this season for example star fruit. Or I guess any exotic fruit because you probably haven’t eaten it all year or season.

people make a mistake and think its if you didn’t eat it all year.if you don’t eat apples all year you don’t make a shehechiyonu. it has to be the fruits season. you thank Hashem that He let you live to the next season of this fruit
