I was wondering if I have a door with a buzzer and a different door in my office is it OK if I leave my other door open or does the door with buzzer have to be open because that is the usual door that people come in from. Please answer thanks!!!!
January 9, 2009 6:07 pm at 6:07 pm #631114jphoneMemberI think the subject of the thread should be Yichud, not Yichus. Then again, if you get the wrong answers here in the coffee room there may be questions about your kids Yichus 🙂
Probably best if you took this Shayla to your Rav.

APushetaYid, ask your LOR, not the YWN-CR.

January 9, 2009 7:27 pm at 7:27 pm #631118feivelParticipantnew rule to be instituted by the moderators:
no more statements of CYLOR
(consult your local orthodox Rabbi)
everyone knows one should consult their LOR, it is stated repeatedly on EVERY single thread that mentions a Halachic issue, over and over, every time, again and again, consult your LOR. we know that, please stop repeating it (addressed to no one in particular).
one can ask for a discussion about a Halachic issue or even a personal situation. it is a DISCUSSON. it is fine. it is good. did you not ever enter into a Halachic discussion or ask a friend for his opinion on a personal Halachic isssue? it doesnt mean a friend’s opinion will be taken as a Psak. and if one foolishly is going to take a CR discussion as a Psak, thats his business, certainly saying: “consult your LOR” will not cause him to do so. he already knows that
im sure one can defend the ad nauseum CYLOR statements, but it is very tiring.
i may be wrong about this; but it is certainly annoying.
and this should be sticky! (after being rewritten in a more civil and intelligent manner)
<U hear where you are coming from. But before I institute it, I will have to CMLOR.

January 10, 2009 11:25 pm at 11:25 pm #631120PMMemberI don’t understand the situation. Is the door to the office w/o a buzzer a separate entrance to the same place of once one enters the building with a buzzer there is an inner room w/o?

January 12, 2009 2:38 pm at 2:38 pm #631122APushetaYidParticipantthe door to the office is with a buzzer it also has a door with out a buzzer is it ok to leave the one with out the buzzer open? yes it is just me and the other person.
January 12, 2009 2:53 pm at 2:53 pm #631123blue shirtParticipantI don’t see how the other (inside) door enters the discussion. If no one can enter the office without being buzzed in, then it should make no difference what the arrangement is inside, those two people are alone in the office. An open door can be closed, a closed door can be opened, the two people are essentially alone and no one else can disturb them. I would think this is yichud no matter what. If however, someone else can get in without being “buzzed” in by someone inside, then there would be a fear that that person may come in at any time, and then there is room for a heter.
January 13, 2009 1:28 am at 1:28 am #631124jphoneMemberNow, if one of the people inside were buzzed, there would be a whole new problem. Who wants be left along with a shikkur? Therefore, I say, there is likely a 3rd person there already in which case depending if there were 2 males or females yichud may or may not be an issue at all.
Of course, if all three people inside are buzzed, there may still be a problem because noone inside would be able to be a proper shomer for themselves or anyone else in the room.
There is still room to be lenient if none of the doors had buzzers, all were made of glass and the alcohol was less than 40 proof.Maybe. To rely on this heter, I respectfully submit that you ask you LOR not all LORs subscribe to this heter.

January 13, 2009 2:51 pm at 2:51 pm #631127squeakParticipantdunno. It’s just an eitzah – if it is OK al pi halacha, then it should be OK security-wise too.
