It’s just amazing how New Yorkers are being led like sheep to slaughter in regards to Mayor Bloomberg (the dictator) having term limits extended.
Rudy Giuliani (undeniably NYC’s best Mayor in history) requested that his term be extended for 90 days. Not four years, but 90 days.
It was right after 9/11, and the city needed him.
But no.
Dictator Bloomberg fought him, and successfully won, not allowing his term to be extended for 90 days.
Now, he shoved this down the NYC residents’ throats, bu buying his way through the city council.
What an outrage!
And everyone is busy with Obama and McCain and ignoring this.
WHERE IS THE MASS PROTESTS?
November 2, 2008 4:55 pm at 4:55 pm #624201JosephParticipantAcyually Bloomberg supported Giuliani’s requuest to add 90 days. It was Shelly Silver who prevented it.
Anyhow, the alternatives to Bloomberg are FAR worse than him.

Like Ray Kelly? Bill Thompson?
puleeeeeze.
Get ahold of yourself, Joseph.
November 3, 2008 11:28 pm at 11:28 pm #624205JosephParticipantIs illini07 going to threaten me (again) with a slap in the face for that comment?
November 4, 2008 1:05 am at 1:05 am #624206anon for thisParticipantJoseph, I’m not illi07, but why do you think that comment is appropriate? I’d presume from your post that you are not offended by epiphets used towards Jews, correct? And for those who argue that it’s OK to call Christine Quinn a “queer” because her sexual orientation is “perverted” according to our religious beliefs, please be aware that many view our religious beliefs as the worst perversion possible.
November 4, 2008 1:57 am at 1:57 am #624207JosephParticipantanon, indeed, epithets towards Jews do not rankle me. But that does not explain my comment. Quinn’s abhorrent behavior, a fact she chose to blatantly publicize, is recognized as such by all people of moral character, Jew and Gentile.
November 4, 2008 2:37 am at 2:37 am #624208anon for thisParticipantJoseph, my point is that many (as in, millions of Christians & Muslims throughout the world) consider our existence as Jews–that is, our refusal to recognize their Messiah–as the worst type of perversion possible. Personally I am relieved that in our great country even religiously-motivated hate speech is still recognized as hate speech.
November 4, 2008 1:42 pm at 1:42 pm #624209jewishfeminist02MemberJoseph, have you ever seen the documentary Trembling Before God?
November 4, 2008 2:37 pm at 2:37 pm #624210JosephParticipantNope.
But I read the Torah.
And follow the Rabbonim that interpert it.
November 4, 2008 5:41 pm at 5:41 pm #624214jewishfeminist02MemberThat’s well and good for us, but CHRISTine Quinn is obviously not a Jew. Why should a Torah prohibition of homosexual acts be applied to her?
November 4, 2008 8:34 pm at 8:34 pm #624216feivelParticipant“obviously not a Jew. Why should a Torah prohibition of “fill in the blank” be applied to her”
because my dear feminist, all acts that are immoral according to common reason, are forbidden to ALL human beings. this was true before Matan Torah, which answers a huge number of kashas (example: how could Kayin have been punished for manslaughter when there was no Law). and it still applies to Bnai Noach after Matan Torah as well. The 7 Mitzvos you are probably familiar with are by no means all inclusive.

Mekor?
Not doubting, just asking.
I thought GLB was included in Arayos, but I could be wrong.
November 5, 2008 8:11 pm at 8:11 pm #624218jphoneMemberIs this “abomination” included in the Sheva Mitzvos? If it is, it is irrelevant, according to the torah, how/where speaker quinn worships.
November 5, 2008 8:13 pm at 8:13 pm #624219jphoneMemberThose who feel Bloomberg somehow got away with something, must remember, he did not sign a law that appoints him a mayor for a 3rd term. He signed a bill tha says he can RUN for a 3rd term. You have every right to vote against him.
November 10, 2008 10:03 am at 10:03 am #624220jewishfeminist02MemberFeivel, please don’t patronize me.
Since when is homosexuality “immoral according to common reason”? (This is a serious question.)
And since when did Kayin commit manslaughter as opposed to murder?
November 10, 2008 4:48 pm at 4:48 pm #624221Will HillParticipantfeminist02, You clearly have no idea what morality is.
Please advise us of your krumme idea of what morality is.

Which of the Rabbonim whom you follow advocate the use of epiphets such as “f-g” & “queer”?
November 10, 2008 11:37 pm at 11:37 pm #624224Will HillParticipantanon4this: Rav Miller ZTV’L.
November 11, 2008 8:22 am at 8:22 am #624225jewishfeminist02MemberKrumme?
