Would name calling and besmirching of other people in an anonymous manner, (i.e. via usernames/screen names) constitute lashon harah?
Would mocking said individuals in a round about manner (i.e. sarcasm, cynicism) be considered avak lashon harah?
bobthebuilder, how do you know that everyone is completely anonymous? There are people who know my name on this site. I’m sure other people have friends or family who know what they post under. Writing things about them when there are people who know their identity can be a problem!
it certainly is ugly, unbecoming a Jew, and damaging to the writer’s Neshama
not everyone that posts here is anonymous but even if we all were, once somebody becomes comfortable speaking (or writing) a certain way they lead the risk of incorporating this behavior into their daily routine.
