Yishai Has Tashmishei Kodesh Returned to IDF

Officials in the Shomron Battalion were compelled to return tashmishei kedusha, bags and other personal belongings confiscated from people spending last shabbos in Chomesh in N. Shomron. Some of those involved lost their tefillin.

In the beginning of last week, after their items were confiscated during a shabbos eviction, those involved turned to regional Hagmar (Regional Defense) Officer Major Nechamia Chen, who informed them they would not be receiving the items anytime in the near future.

The told the media that Chen explained “A new policy is in effect, bringing an end to the revolving door policy, and now, finally, they will realize they will have to pay a price for their actions”. The activists decried the military’s chilul shabbos, and the fact that they were pushed into vehicles on shabbos as well, taken away from the area.

Chomesh First officials responded by stating “Whoever thinks that causing chilul shabbos and confiscating our personal items will break us is very mistaken. Quite the contrary. Their actions prove just how effective our actions are”.

Coalition head MK (Likud) Ze’ev Elkin, who also chairs a Foreign Affairs & Defense Committee subcommittee dealing with matters in Yehuda and Shomron, stated the incident of the eviction on shabbos will be raised in the Foreign Affairs & Defense Committee. The actions of the military in this case were in direct contradiction to the regulations set forth by the subcommittee he explains.

According to a HaMevaser report, the tashmishei kodesh and other items will be returned due to the direct intervention of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the  Interior Eli Yishai.
