Empire State Building Honors EMS

The Empire State Building, in partnership with the New York City Fire Department, will be illuminated in yellow, white, and blue at sunset on Friday May 14 in celebration of National EMS Week 2010.  The tower lights will also be lit at sunset on Saturday May 15 and Sunday May 16, marking the first day across the country of National EMS Week 2010.

EMS Week is an annual week-long series of events designed to promote public safety among all New Yorkers, attract potential EMS recruits and celebrate the life-saving efforts of more than 3,000 members of the FDNY Emergency Medical Service. Other events include the Second Chance Brunch, where rescuers are reunited with the people whose lives they saved in the past year, which will be held on Thursday May 20 at 11 a.m. at the FDNY Academy on Randall’s Island and an EMS Health Fair and Competition to be held at the Metrotech Commons on Friday May 21.
