Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov commented on his country’s decision to sell S-300 missile system to Iran, dismissing US criticism over the sale. We need “no advice from across the ocean” he stated in his response, speaking in Turkey with members of the press.
The American administration has indicated if Moscow does indeed go ahead with the sale, which will result in Tehran possessing the advanced anti-aircraft system, it will negatively impact ties between Russia and the United States.
“We’ve made it very clear to the Russians that that would have a very significant impact on our bilateral relations,” said Gary Samore, the White House coordinator for arms control, weapons of mass destruction proliferation and terrorism.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has repeated defended the lucrative sale, stating that since the weapons system is strictly a defense one, it in no way violates the sanctions imposed on Iran by the international community.
Russia is becoming a major supplier of advanced weapons systems, providing Israel’s enemies including Iran, Syria and Hizbullah, significantly impacting the regional balance of power against Israel.

Russia is simply following the example of the U.S. in favoring the Arab countries over Israel.
They regard America’s objections as hypocritical and self-serving. Maybe America wants to sell Syria its own missiles, instead, so that American corporations will profit.
Increasingly, the world doesn’t take America seriously anymore. Why pay attention to a bankrupt country!
