A 5-year-old Eilat child was bitten by a black widow spider while playing in kindergarten. She exhibited facial swelling and complained of severe pain. She was transported to Yosef-Tal Hospital where she received antibiotics and later released. After her symptoms worsened she was taken back to the emergency room the daily HaMevaser reports.

After consulting with experts in Haifa’s Rambam Medical Center, the decision was made to give her morphine.

Medical officials report that if bitten, one should head directly for an emergency room and not waste time with old school remedies.
