Iran Mocks Western Sanctions

Not making any apologies or pretending to exhibit an air of cooperation, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in his remarks in the UN on Tuesday warned the United States that increased economic sanction will not deter him or bring his country’s nuclear program to a halt. Ironically, the Iranian leader was invited to attend the UN’s nuclear non-proliferation talks.

Ahmadinejad stated that imposing stiffer sanctions is a clear message that the White House has abandoned any intentions of a diplomatic process with Iran, telling reporters at a news conference that his country can endure the pressure.

“We do not welcome sanctions but we do not fear them” he stated, insisting the United States will be harmed more than Iran.
