In response to the appointment of Dr. Avi Simchon as the new advisor to Finance Minister Dr. Yuval Shteinitz, MK (Yahadut HaTorah) R’ Moshe Gafne stated “Pharaoh preceded him with his policy against growing families”.

Gafne was referring to Simchon’s statements regarding large families, that” families with seven, eight or even ten children are endangering the nation”, calling it “destructive to society” as was reported by YWN-Israel.

Gafne stated that in essence, Dr. Simchon adds nothing since there have people who preceded him who held the same viewpoint “but not just targeting one segment of society, but the entire Jewish People.

Where are Pharaoh and those nations with the ‘pein yirbu’ philosophy today and where is Am Yisrael with its large families” he questioned rhetorically. “Kein Yirbu” he concluded.
