A terrible tragedy occurred on Lag BaOmer 5770, as a Lubavitch bochur from Crown Heights passed away in a jet ski crash in Tampa, Florida.
Nosson N. Deitsch A”H, 21, traveled to Tampa for Shabbos to help the local Shluchim organize their Lag BaOmer events.
He was learning Smicha – rabbinical studies at the Chabad Yeshiva Gedolah of Greater Miami.
Following the parade on Sunday morning, COLlive was told, Nosson took a jet ski ride with another bochur.
Tampa Police said the accident happened just before 2.50 p.m. local time on the north side of the Courtney Campbell Causeway when his jet ski was struck by a second jet ski.
“As a result of the collision, the victim was knocked off of the jet ski and into the water,” police told the local press.
Deitsch, a smiling and kind bochur whose mother lives on Crown Street in Brooklyn, was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital by Tampa Fire Rescue and was later pronounced dead.
The Tampa Marine Patrol is investigating the accident. The other bochur is fine.
The funeral will take place in Crown Heights Monday, May 3. Details to follow.

#1 — Yes, this is a terrible golus, with jet skis and everything! What has golus have to do with a jet skit accident?! This was Yad Hashem, not golus. Sholom Rubashkin will go to prison in America, and everyone screams “Golus!” Umpteen chareidi politicians are involved in scams, bribery, and all kinds of chilul Hashem, and they will also go to prison, but nobody screams “Golus!” because it happens in Israel. The problem is in the part of your brain that handles intelligence.

Simply put, both golus and misah come from chet. To separate them is to ignore our responsibility for the world in which we find ourselves. We cannot say what chet caused what onesh, but that the gezeiras misah will end with the end of the galus is certainly true.

I have to agree with hereorthere. Where in her comment did she/he mention jet skiis? You think too small. But I will tell you what is preventing the geulah. It is your self-righteous and hateful comments. The only way we can bring Moshiach is through ahavas yisroel. And through Ahavas Yisroel there will be Achdus. When Hashem freed the yidden from mitzraim, the Jews were not perfect. They committed many sins. However, Hashem took them them out because of their suffering and most important because of the covenant He made with Avraham Avinu. So, hopefully when the Geulah comes we may not be perfect, however, because of our immense suffering through the 2000 years of Galus Hashem will take us out of again. However, IMO, Hashem is waiting to see us unite, and then once that happens, the geulah should come VERY SOON.

is this the same rav miller that said many year ago you can’t daven for the girl that was hit by a truck b/c you might loose faith in hashem if she doesn’t recover. if so we should not take heed to what he has to say about accidents V’CHULU.
May the family be comforted. I think that is what we need to be concerned with right now. I don’t understand why some people are posting nasty comments when there is a terrible accident that has happened. Why be nasty? We have to take it upon ourselves to display ourselves as Jews in a becoming way and treat each other nicely. All I can say is that the family should have comfort and no more heartache and pain. It’s enough!
