Increase in Bus Service on Memorial Day

To accommodate the many visitors to the nation’s cemeteries, Egged on Monday, Memorial Day, has increased bus service on routes servicing the nation’s military cemeteries. Egged is also giving a 50% discount on fares higher than NIS 16.70 to families of fallen soldiers, requiring a family member to show the certificate from the Ministry of Defense entitling one to the discount.

Tens of thousands of soldiers are on the roads today, traveling to military ceremonies in cemeteries around the country. Security remains high today and tomorrow, Independence Day, and a closure remains in effect on PA (Palestinian Authority) areas, prohibiting PA residents from crossing the Green Line until after Independence Day.

Magen David Adom, Israel’s primary emergency medical service provider remains on heightened operational alert status, moving to one level below a state of emergency.
