Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat has recently been pressuring police to begin carrying out demolition orders against the many illegal Arab structures in eastern areas of the capital, Ynet reported. The report stated that for months, the demolitions have been on hold, partially due to pressure applied on Jerusalem City Hall from the Prime Minister’s Office as well as the politically volatile situation, with the Islamic world pointing an accusing finger at Israel, accusing Jerusalem of implementing a policy of ‘ethnic cleansing’ in the capital, seeking to oust non-Jews and to destroy al-Aqsa Mosque.
Responding to the report, Yariv Oppenheim of the radical left-wing Peace Now organization labeled the mayor a “strategic threat to Mideast stability”.
Oppenheim and his supporters accuse the mayor and City Hall of pushing Israel towards another Intifada by implementing its “right-wing policies’ against Arabs.
Jerusalem officials released a statement to the press stating there is nothing new on the demolition matter, adding delays are due to budgeting, explaining the funds necessary to carry out the demolitions were released by the Interior Ministry, permitting authorities to move forward.

The term ‘illegal’ holds water if you are right wing, religious or poor. Throw the ‘left wing radicals’ into Ramallah and see if they get better treatment there.
Sadly in a previous article the same “peace now” are insisting that the homes of Israelis in “illegal outposts” be razed proving that its not human rights they’re interested in protecting rather a pure unadulterated leftist view.
