Ayelet Falk, a resident of Yishuv Ofra in Shomron, this week was awarded NIS 20,000 after the state failed to appear in court to respond to her lawsuit against police. The suit alleged police intentionally injured her at the protest seeking to prevent the expulsion from Amona in 2006.
In her suit, she based her proof on video footage captured by Israel’s Channel 1, showing police using unjustifiable force against her as she was evacuated from a rooftop. Justice Minister Police Investigations Unit officials declined to accept her complaint, prompting her suit.
When the state attorney did not appear, due to a strike, Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court Justice Gad Ehrenberg awarded the plaintiff payment of 20,000 NIS.
