Terrorist Ziad Najib, 46, who has been in an Israeli prison for 14 years, was released earlier this week. He permitted Hamas terrorists to use his Bir Naballah home to hold IDF soldier Sgt. Nachshon Wachsman HY”D hostage in 1994. Upon his arrival at home he received a hero’s welcome. He was then taken to al-Aqsa Mosque and returned to his Jerusalem home. Another prisoner was released along with him.

At the time of Wachsman’s murder, Najib was living in Jordan but he was arrested upon his return to Israel.

Sgt. Wachsman was abducted by terrorists on his way home and held hostage in Bir Naballah, a few hundred meters from Jerusalem’s Kalandia Checkpoint. An elite unit from Sayeret Matkal tried to rescue him, but the attempt failed. Wachsman was murdered along with the leader of the rescue force, Captain Nir Poraz HY”D.
