PHOTOS: Zaka Welcomes New Two-Wheeled Response Vehicles

Zaka, the first emergency organization in Israel to rely on two-wheeled motorized vehicles for an immediate response, is now working to upgrade its fleet.

Six scooters were dedicated in a ceremony in Jerusalem along with emergency medical equipment.

The organization’s media statement explains that 16 years after is two-wheeled response unit was established, it is working to replace old units with new ones, holding the ceremony at its international office near the Jerusalem Central Bus Station.

The responders who received the new units thanked donors for enabling them to respond to life-threatening situations. Volunteer Shimon Grossman explains that just last Shabbos his scooter permitted him to respond to a call involving an unconscious person and his quick arrival led reviving the victim B”H.

The American donors actually felt uncomfortable, explaining “It is we that have to thank you for the 24/7 response you maintain.

The equipment included with each scooter contains an automated defibrillator.

Zaka adds its innovative idea 16 years ago served a model for other emergency response organizations, which today rely on scooters for quick response in emergency situations.
