Four Spring Valley residents are due back in court next month after pleading not guilty to robbing a Monsey supermarket and beating the manager.
Aldaberto Lucas, 21, Edward Ceus, 23, Francisco Feria, 16, and Junior Henry Marseille, 21 have been charged with two counts each of first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and second-degree robbery and a single count of second-degree burglary.
All are being held at the Rockland County jail. Rockland District Attorney Michael Bongiorno said Lucas and Ceus were being held without bail, Feria is being held on a $300,000 bond and Marseille is being held on $250,000 cash or a $500,000 bond.
They are due back in court on March 13, Bongiorno said.
Ramapo police said the four jumped the Monsey Glatt store manager on Thanksgiving and pistol-whipped him before stealing $15,000 from the business office.
Lucas was an employee of Monsey Glatt at the time of the robbery and Ceus is a former employee.
Police said they used surveillance tape from the store’s camera in the investigation and that the suspects were wearing either full or half masks.
Mitchell Schecter, Lucas’ lawyer, said it was unfair that his client was being held without bail because Lucas never laid a hand on the store manager.
“The D.A. portrayed him as sort of subhuman,” he said, noting that Lucas worked for Monsey Glatt for four years, using his pay to support his mother, wife and child.
“He has never, ever been in trouble before,” he said.
Bongiorno said he could not comment on any evidence to be used in the case.
While Schecter said that Lucas was in the process of filing for immigration documents, police said the Mexico native was living in the U.S. illegally.

OK OK – I know schecter is “just doing his job (so don’t jump all over me) but…
“never laid a hand on the store manager.”
“using his pay to support his mother, wife and child.”
“He has never, ever been in trouble before,”
give me a break!
He is a filthy illegal alien (so I guess he did break the law previously) who joined with his friends to not only rob the store that gave this “choir boy” the chance to support his mama, but he and the manager know each other and he still did what he did!
schecter – shame on you! defend him you must – but at least be honest. he is not the really sweet person that you portray – he is a thug, he is a criminal, he is an attempted murderer!
How many thugs have you meet, that admit to wrongdoings!
When a prison sentence is in the making, the mouths start talking.
