Andrew Puzder says he is withdrawing as President Donald Trump’s nominee for labor secretary.
The fast food executive says in a statement provided to The Associated Press that he was “honored to have been considered by President Donald Trump to lead the Department of Labor and put America’s workers and businesses back on a path to sustainable prosperity.”
Puzder says “while I won’t be serving in the administration, I fully support the President and his highly qualified team.”
Puzder’s confirmation hearing was scheduled for Thursday. But some Republicans had raised concerns about his failure to pay taxes for five years on a former housekeeper who wasn’t authorized to work in the U.S.
Puzder is CEO of CKE Restaurants Inc.

let’s not forget a fact of life. dirt can be dug up on ANYONE. there is not one person on this earth who can claim that he/she is lilly white. the left has not let up and my feeling is that they won’t ever let up till they succeed in bringing President Trump down. i’m wondering what kind of a country we live in that can allow such shennanigans to take place. something is wrong here and i don’t want to hear from a future comment that “what’s wrong here is Trump”. that’s nonsense!
Not sure why this guy backed out — he would have been perfect for the job. Who better to protect workers than the guy that knows exactly how they can be abused and exploited?
To chaiml — dirt can be dug up on anyone. But there are different kinds of dirt. What kind of dirt do you think they would dig up on you? That you’re not a morning person? That you once ran through a red light? That you “forgot” to report $5000 of taxable income? That you hired an illegal immigrant as a nanny for a few months?
Sure there is some dirt here just like all of us have dirt. But in this case we’re not talking about light dirt. We’re talking about a person who is has a history of cheating and abusing his workers, many workers over long periods of time. What reason do you have to believe that he will work towards protecting workers’ rights?

hello mr M..nice to meet you. the only “aveira” that this guy did (according to this report above) was hire an illegal alien as a cleaning lady & for the last 5 years hasn’t paid taxes on her. if that’s what makes him a bad person then he has alot of company in all the jewish neighborhoods, yours include! where did you pick up this stuff about him having a “history of cheating and abusing his workers over long periods of time”? probably from the fake news CNN or NBC or was it the washington prust? this report certainly made no mention of it. mr M, there’s a lot of phony media out there. this is one thing i learned since Trump started his campaign.
