The appointment of seven additional dayanim to state batei din did not occur once again as the politicians on the appointment committee could not reach agreement.

The committee will convene once again after Purim, and there will not be new appointments before them despite the seven vacancies in the district level batei din, reports Director-General of the Batei Din Rabbi Shimon Yaakobi in an interview with Kol Berama Radio.

Yaakobi explained there is a total of 103 slots for dayanim of which 96 are currently filled. He explains the problem is the inability of the politicians to agree on candidates to fill those slots.

The meeting is scheduled to take place on 18 Adar, at which time the seven slots should be filled.
