Greenfield Takes Break From Campaign Trail Following Loss Of His Grandmother

Brooklyn – On the eve of Election Day, the Greenfield Campaign announced that it has postponed this morning’s campaign events to allow David Greenfield to spend some time with his family following the passing of his grandmother early this morning in Eretz Yisrael. Greenfield, whose father passed away a number of years ago, was very close to his grandmother.

“My grandmother’s strength and support following the loss of her son and our father was an inspiration to our entire family. Her chesed, kindness and devotion to her family will be missed by us all,” said Greenfield.

Greenfield’s grandmother, Mrs. Henshe Greenfield, was born in the city of Nitra in Slovakia to the Hollander family. After surviving the Holocaust, she married R’ Meir Yaakov Greenfield, who survives her. His family originated from city of Litchik, descendants of the famed R’ Shaul Litchiker. The Greenfields lived in Tel Aviv where they were close disciples of of the Sadigura Rebbe.

  1. I’m voting for Joe Lazar but want to offer my sincere condolences to David and his family. May he only see and hear Simchas.

  2. It has been verified that printed Signs are posted today in Yeshivos Chaim Berlin, Torah Vadaas, Torah Temima, Ateres Torah, Chofetz Chayim, Mir and Lederman

signed by the “VAAD HAYESHIVOS OF FLATBUSH” urging everyone to vote

“LMAAN KEVOD HARABONIM” (vehmaivin yovin) and “LETOELES HAYESHIVOS” & “THEIR PARENTS”

FOR DOVID GREENFIELD FOR CITY COUNCIL

  3. As schmerel, I too am for Lazar and I offer condolences to David and his family as well. May you only have simchos to celebrate.

To comment # 2, I spoke with the administration of 2 of the yeshivos listed and they know of no such sign.
In fact, the administrator in one school said, “we are not allowed to endorse any candidate, but I am obvioulsy voting for Lazar”

  4. A yeshiva is an inappropriate venue for a campaign poster and I guarantee that if anyone posted one in Chaim Berlin, no matter in whose favor, it hit the trash bin within minutes.

In fact one of the Yeshiva’s askonim sent a letter urging support for Lazar. Posting #2 seems ingenuous if not downright deceptive.

  5. Baruch Dayan Emes, you should note how many torah families lived and presently live in Tel Aviv -the first Jewish city in ERETZ YISROEL.

  6. Let everyone vote fo rwhomever they fell is better, but yeshivos are not endorsing anyone. The ones that have signed are not signing as a yeshiva buut as an individual.

That being said Greenfiled has been the most vocal (including more vocal than our politicians) over the last five years, and has helped mosdos tremendously. Joe Lazar is a newcomer.

  7. BD”E. May the family know only simchas.

The administrator of my kids’ yeshiva sent home a letter endorsing Greenfield, who will work to get funding for transportation among other things yeshiva related. It was not on the schools letterhead but rather a personal lette.

  8. Bd”h.
I personaly think it’s the yetze”r hor”a that tries to prevent Greenfield from winning.
He did so much for us till now, & hopefully will continue as a coucelmember.
Hope people gonna make the right choice…
