  1. a problem that has come up in the past is being that chometz is not batel ( nullified)afilu be’elef (even if its a 1 to a thousand ratio) so if someone were to throw a piece of bread in to the kinneret it should make all the drinking water in Israel Chometz
I was told that till this day there are people who fill up water for the whole yom tov from before because before yom tov chametz is butul.

  2. #1: Somebody might have thrown a big challah into the Kinneret. And we all know that chometz is not bottul even with a mashe-hu.

This non-problem was raised several years ago.

Keep your towel and don’t panic.

  3. Nah! That is not the reason. Palmachim is in the south of Israel. For water from the Kinnert to get there, it is piped by Mikorot, the water company. First it is purified and filtered. NO fish, no dirt, no crumbs.

Even if the that Challah is still floating in the Kinneret, the water in the pipes has no crumbs b’ain and for certain does not give off any taste.

Therefore there must be some other problem.

BTW, I live in Jerusalem and yes, I remember a very frum Jerusalmy had his own water for drinking purposes for pesach, but not for bathing or washing dishes.
