Officials say the Obama administration in its waning hours defied Republican opposition and quietly released $221 million to the Palestinian Authority.
GOP members of Congress had been holding up the money.
A State Department official and several congressional aides say the outgoing administration formally notified Congress it would spend the money Friday morning, just before Donald Trump became president.
More than $227 million in foreign affairs funding was released at the time, including $4 million for climate change programs and $1.25 million for U.N. organizations.
At least two GOP lawmakers had placed holds on the Palestinian funds. Congressional holds are generally respected by the executive branch but are not legally binding.
The official and the aides weren’t authorized to speak publicly on the matter and demanded anonymity.

Can anyone here please explain why such an anti-semite like obama approved a 10 year, $38 billion – that’s right, BILLION – aid package to Israel just a few months ago? Thats 3.8 billion per year. Up from the current 3.1 billion a year.

I think I’ll write a math problem for my third-grade daughter: “You have $227 million to spend on Friday morning. You spend $221 million on aid to Palestian leaders, pro-Palestinian NGOs, Hamas militarization and maybe a bit to needy Palestinian people. How much money do you have left to spend on the rest of the world?”
The idea is to keep her busy with the arithmetic in the hopes she doesn’t ask any questions that start with the word “why.”
If she were to ask something like, “Why would Obama get up early to do something so sneaky when he has all that packing to do?” or “Why wasn’t the AP story reported widely in the mainstream media?” I don’t know what I would tell her. (Maybe to answer the first question I would talk about how Bilaam got up really early, too…)
Trump shouldn’t give the PA another cent for the next 8 years. He should inform them that they got paid in advance. On second thought, the PA should have to pay taxes to the US gov’t. For the money that the Sutton sent them.

I will not call you any names…that is not my way.
I won’t even call Obama an anti-Semite, partly because I don’t use that word, coined by 19th century Jew hater, but partly because he’s not really a Jew hater, he has lots of the “right kind” of Jews that he likes, he’s just against the concept of being a Jew, that involves belief in some kind of identity that does not recognise the superiority of a one-world concept, that leaves no room for a “peoplehood” or “nation.”
He is, however, a Jew hater in the sense that he tries to destroy the Jewish nation and that, if one were to apply Natan Sharansky’s 3D’s his actions would fall within the category of “anti-Semitism.”
Specifically, about your question, “Why did he approve that 38 billion aid package agreement with Israel if he actually does not hate Israel?”
1)That increase is hardly compensation for the increased risk that will occur because of lifting sanctions against terror supporting Iran.
A large increase was supposed to be “payment” in compensation for the PM to shut up about his opposition to the Iran deal.
2) The former(how good it feels to say that) president would have been overridden by Congress, which always supports Israel generously
3) Because Congress always comes to Israel’s aid, the former president, made sure to have it written into the agreement that no changes can be made in the agreement by Congress.
(A real supporter of Israel, like Senator Lindsey Graham , in fact, disputed that he had any power or right to take away the Congress’s power of the purse, in this case.)
4) In a sneaky move to eventually cripple Israel’s military defense industry, he arranged for the deal to specify that NONE of the money could be spent on Israeli manufactured military goods, a big blow.
Obama could not just cut Israeli military aid, there are too many people in Congress and the public to hold him accountable and even overide him, he is not stupid, he played his hand with such stealth that perhaps those who consider themselves “liberal-minded” might be able to be forgiven for overlooking his huge flaws that were quite apparent to most, that plus the MSM’s infatuation with him.
But, how in the world can someone, anyone excuse the very blatant acts that have occured at the end of his presidency?
Please, for your own sake (at least in private) admit he had you fooled and you’re sorry for your “confusion.”
