Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat commented “We had eight difficult years during which Obama applied pressure for a building freeze. Despite this, the Jerusalem municipality di not freeze construction many times but the government did not give its approval due to American pressure. I hope this era has passed and from now, we will continue to build and develop the city in favor of residents, Jews and Arabs alike, to strengthen its sovereignty over a united Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and to provide solutions for young couples for it is the right thing”.
