A 65-year-old mother sustained serious injuries and her 30-year-old daughter was moderately injured in a fire in an apartment in the Pisgat Ze’ev neighborhood of northern Jerusalem. Firefighters extricated the injured from the fire and they were transported by Magen David Adom to Shaare Zedek Hospital.
The call came in at 3:56AM motzei Shabbos for a building on Moshe Dayan Blvd. MDA reports both victims were treated for smoke inhalation, with the mother being in serious condition. Paramedic David Trachtenberg explains “The fire was in an apartment on the second of five floors. Firefighters rescued the victims, with both showing signs of smoke inhalation, including difficulty breathing. We administered appropriate treatment including sedating and intubating one of the victims and they were transported to Shaare Zedek”.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blaze.
