Tuesday Evening News Briefs from Eretz Yisrael


Egyptian TV showed the first photos of President Hosni Mubarak since he underwent gallbladder surgery in Germany. Earlier in the week there were rumors that he died on the table.

**A scuffle erupted during protests on Mt. Scopus in Yerushalayim between right and left-wing activists. Three leftists were arrested.

**Beersheva City Hall employees announced they are beginning an open-ended strike on Wednesday due to salary cuts.

**A male was stabbed in his chest on Atzpor Street in Haifa. He was transported to Rambam Medical Center, reportedly in moderate condition.

**Avner Netanyahu, a son of the prime minister, has moved up to qualify as a contestant in the international Tanach Contest. He won the national competition today, held in Kiryat Shmona.

**5:00PM IL: A total of 14 policemen were injured in riots today, all listed in light condition. Three are hospitalized. 60 Arabs were arrested.

**One person injured lightly in a rock-throwing attack on Hwy 446.

**5:00PM IL: Mortar shell attack in southern Israel. No injuries.
