Minister (Labor) Binyamin Ben-Eliezer told Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) on Thursday that the timing of the announced construction in Jerusalem, during US Vice President Joe Biden’s visit, was a catastrophe and has resulted in further isolating Israel in the international diplomatic community.
Ben-Eliezer stressed “The Jewish neighborhood of Jerusalem must remain Jewish and the Arab neighborhoods must remain Arab. I address my comments to those who speak of a ‘united Jerusalem’, and I am not counted among them.
The minister blames them for “bringing the international community down on Israel” and the current administration [which he is a part of] is bringing havoc down on Jerusalem regarding relations with Israel’s allies.
