The recent rainfall has brought a measure of relief for the Kinneret, the nation’s fresh potable water source. In December 2016 the Kinneret rose 23 centimeters (9 inches) and on Sunday morning January 1, 2017, measured minus 213.61. The Kinneret needs and additional 61 centimeters (24 inches) to reach the red line and 4.81 meters (5.26 yards) to once again fill.
On the weekend the Mt. Hermon ski lodge closed due to a storm. To date, there are lower level accumulations of 50 centimeters (19.6 inches) and 70 centimeters (27.5 inches) on the upper areas.
