Israel’s Channel 2 Television on motzei shabbos launched its new TV series “HaChatufim” (The Abducted), telling of the lives of IDF soldiers released from Syrian captivity after years as POWs.

Officials working on behalf of captive IDF soldier Gilad Shalit released a statement that “Gilad does not live in a TV show” adding they are unaware if Mr. & Mrs. Noam and Aviva Shalit watched the show, “but it is certain they too wish their son’s plight was nothing more than a show”.

They add that they can only hope that the nation will be brought to a heightened awareness regarding Gilad’s plight as a result of the new television series.
