Police are probing Arab MK Basal Ghattas for possible law-breaking activities that may compromise state security. The MK is going to be questioned by Israel Police’s 443 unit. Ghattas responds, calling the case against him “a political witch hunt”, which he adds is simply because he is a senior official in the Balad party.

Minister Ze’ev Elkin on Monday morning 19 Kislev told Kol Berama Radio host Noam Ziegler the time has come to move along legislation to oust Ghattas from Knesset for his anti-Israel position and actions. Ghattas allegedly smuggled mobile phones to imprisoned terrorists incarcerated in Israel. Elkin has sent a letter to his Knesset colleagues calling to oust Ghattas. He explains the time has come to remove those MKs who assist the enemy rather than permitting them to continue benefiting from their status as MKs.

Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit has authorized the investigation against MK Ghattas.

The accompanying video, released by the Shin Bet, shows how mobile phone components are smuggled to security prisoners in Ketziot Prison. This shiptment was intercepted by agents.
