IDF Reserve Duty Officer Suspended from Duty

An IDF reserve duty officer of the rank of 1st lieutenant was suspended from his command after the preliminary investigation into the shooting and wounding of four Arabs involved in firebomb attacks on motzei shabbos on the Hussan Bypass Road near Betar Illit.

It appears Arabs threw firebombs at soldiers manning an area checkpoint. A short time following the attacks, a vehicle was seen fleeing the area and the officer gave the order to fire at the vehicle, wounding the occupants. They were transported in a Red Crescent ambulance to a hospital in PA-occupied Beit Lechem.

The area battalion commander launched an investigation into the shooting and it has been determined the ‘open fire’ order was given in contradiction to protocol directing the use of live ammunition. Brigadier-General Nitzan Alon is conducting the investigation and until he submits his findings, the officer is suspended from his command. Military officials have already released a statement expressing sorrow over the incident.

  1. “officials have already released a statement expressing sorrow over the incident”.
Sorrow?!? The only sorrow should be that theses animals were ONLY wounded and not killed.
This is typical Chelm news, i.e. an officer that SHOULD be getting a medal for his quick reaction to an attack, instead was suspended!?!
    SICK SICK SICK!!!
