Counting The Final Days Of Amona

1The deadline set by the High Court of Justice for the destruction of Amona, 25 December, the first day of Chanukah, is approaching yet Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit is not endorsing a plan to utilize ‘abandoned property’ to permit relocating the community temporarily on the same hilltop but to a different location.

Those backing the plan hoped it would permit serving as a first step in voluntary evacuation of the yishuv but Mandelblit remains firm in his opposition to the move. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu hoped this would set the stage to avoid a confrontation by ordering a forced eviction and the residents would remain there until their new homes are built in a new final location for Amona.

  1. Who runs the country – the Attorney General or the Supreme Court? Must be one of the two as it certainly isn’t the Government or the Knesset.

  2. Sorry, I left out two words: unelected and elected. Both need to be inserted twice. My post should have read: Who runs the country – the unelected Attorney General or the unelected Supreme Court? Must be one of the two as it certainly isn’t the elected Government or the elected Knesset.
