The results of a new poll reveal the many Israelis do not trust in the High Court of Justice. The results of this latest poll are compared with a similar poll taken 25 years ago.
In the previous poll, taken in 1991, 80% of the general Israeli public [including Arabs] trusted the nation’s High Court of Justice as compared to only 56% today. 12% of Jews responded they do not trust the court today as compared to 3% in 1991. In fact, back then, 41% of Israeli Jews had absolute trust in the court and today, that figure has dropped to 22%.
The same trend has impacted the State Comptroller’s Office, which enjoyed 80% in the 1991 poll but today, this figure has dropped to 55%. In the Arab sector alone, that figure dropped from 57% in 1991 to today’s 47%.
The Knesset has nothing to smile about either as support has dropped from 27% in the 1991 poll to a mere 23% today.
The poll was conducted by Dr. Avi Degani and his Geocartography Institute.
