Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid is under fire for comments made to Channel 2’s Meet the Press on motzei Shabbos, speaking of the need to “build a high wall” to get the “Palestinians out of our lives”.

He added that “My father did not come here from the ghetto to live in a binational state. He came here to live in a Jewish state” emphasizing the need to build a separation with Palestinians and Israelis living on opposite sides. He stated he did not believe there would be peace in his lifetime and in order to live peacefully, there must be a division between the sides.

The critics were not just from the Likud, but from Lapid’s own party, including MK and former Herzliya Mayor Yael German and MK Yaakov Peri, with the latter being a former director of the Shin Bet. The left-wing accused him of forgetting where he belongs while the right-wing accused him of duping the public.
