The name Yossi Chavilov is generally synonymous with anti-chareidi activity but in this case, it appears the pro-secular Jerusalem legal advisor may be approached by askanim who are seeking assistance in obtaining permits for mosdos in the capital.
Residents of Givat Shaul explain they are simply not getting their fair share and the critical shortage of allocated space for schools and talmidei torah is more apparent with each passing day. They accuse Deputy Mayor Yitzchak Pindrus of simply abandoning them, prompting the discussion, the possibility of turning to Chavilov to assist them in getting vacant building space approved for a talmid torah. According to a Kikar report, during the last visit to the Givat Shaul neighborhood by askanim and city officials, who were seeking to get a first-hand understanding at the extent the shortage of facilities, Pindrus “did not even bother to show up”.
The expiration period to request building approval ends this week and some of the askanim involved explain they turned to Chavilov and they are confident that despite his negative image, he will assist, pointing out they have given up relying on Pindrus.

Being a resident of Givat Shaul, I often get the impression that nobody really cares about it. If you mention “Givat Shaul” to anyone at the municipality, they just think of the Beis HaDfus / Kanfei Nesharim industrial/commercial area. They completely forget that there is an entire neighborhood called Givat Shaul, which is the actual area of RECHOV Givat Shaul.
Nobody really seems to care about Givat Shaul.
