BINA Stroke and Brain Injury Assistance, the only organization providing guidance and assistance to stroke and brain injury survivors in the Jewish community, will host its annual dinner on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Ohel David & Shlomo, located at 710 Shore Boulevard in Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn. The event begins at 7:00 p.m. and the program will commence at 8:00 promptly.

Dr. Jeffrey Farkas, a nationally renowned Interventional Neuro-Radiologist at the NYU Lutheran Comprehensive Stroke Center in Brooklyn will be honored with the Healthcare Leadership Award. Dr. Farkas’s groundbreaking stroke treatment methods have saved countless lives and allow many stroke survivors to maintain their precious quality of life.

The well-deserved Community Inspiration Award will be presented to Mr. and Mrs. Yossi Tyberg, beloved residents of Flatbush and highly regarded in the Jewish music industry. Mr. B.Z. Weiss will share a personal and gripping account, “My Family’s Journey”, of the many twists and turns his family has experienced in his teenage daughter’s journey to recovery from a stroke.

In the words of a close family member of a young brain injury survivor, “It is not possible to elaborate on the full scope of the incredible work that BINA has done for us. From the moment our family was hit with the tragedy of a devastating brain injury, BINA has stood at our side, providing support and guidance any time of the day and night. They have escorted us through the complex maze of neuro- rehab and done their utmost to make this long and arduous journey as smooth as possible. BINA has been there for us in our time of distress, and now we would like to express our appreciation and enable them to continue assisting anyone in need.”

The father of a childhood stroke survivor attests, “When we started our journey over two decades ago, there was no one to help us. No one to tell us where to turn, what to expect, which physicians to see, what tests to have, and so on and so on…Nothing. When BINA came into our lives, it was like someone turned on the light switch. Finally, there were people who knew what we were going through, what needed to be done for our child, and who truly cared and wanted to help. BINA is there with knowledge and understanding, so that people are no longer alone in their ordeal.”

A brain injury can happen to any person of any age at any time and the devastation in its aftermath affects every member of the family. BINA has assisted thousands of families in the United States, Canada, Israel and Europe dealing with the upheaval of stroke and brain injury resulting from falls, car accidents, strokes, aneurysms, brain tumors and other neurological conditions.

BINA’s comprehensive system of rehabilitation referrals, case management, crisis intervention and caregiver support services allow brain injury survivors and their families to access the best possible care while on the long road to recovery. Educational events presented by leading experts in the field are also conducted for both professionals and the community at large.

With the help of concerned individuals in the community, BINA can ensure that no need goes unmet for brain injury survivors and their families. To place your ad and for dinner reservations, please contact BINA at 718-645- 6400 or [email protected], or go to www.binausa.org/dinner.
