Border police found four storage facilities used for illegal egg storage in the Ras al-Amud area of the capital.

The report states there were “Tens of thousands of illegal eggs kept in unsanitary conditions”.

They also found a number of cages which contained parrots and pigeons.

Officials from the appropriate agency were summoned to the scene by border police. They counted 1,240 cartons of 30 eggs each, totaling 37,200 eggs.

Officials explain they are continuing the battle against illegal eggs which also pose a health hazard to the public.

Two persons were detained for questioning.
