Bomb placers and suicide bombers (not usually thrown) are out to kill. Sometimes they succeed.
What is the difference, exactly, other than firepower and efficiency?
The article doesn’t mention that it was the “Mir Bus” returning from the Mir to Beitar after 2nd Seder. The Zchus of their Torah surely protected them and nobody was hurt.
