Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon on Wednesday, 29 Cheshvan, together with Deputy Finance Minister Yitzchak Cohen, met with representatives of insurance companies regarding compensatory payments to people for damage incurred in last week’s fires.

The insurance companies have agreed to pay the difference between the state adjusters’ appraisals and the insurance companies evaluation of the properties. This means the state will make payment to persons in areas categorized as damaged due to arson terror and the insurance companies will make a one-time exception and pay the difference between the state adjusters’ sum and the amount of one’s property insurance.

A joint task force of Finance Ministry personnel and insurance companies’ inspectors will provide the professional solutions required as the process moves forward.

Kahlon made a special point to thank his deputy minister, a member of Shas, for his tireless efforts towards setting up the joint system between the state adjusters and the nation’s insurance companies. Cohen was instrumental in devising the plan and getting both sides to agree.
