As the government prepares to vote on significant funding for the restoration and preservation of national heritage sites efforts made by Minister of Religious Services (Shas) Yaakov Margi and others were successful to have the Ma’arat HaMachpelah included among the list of museums, Zionist locations and other sites of national interest.

The cabinet meeting on Sunday was held in the north, at Tel Chai, as was reported by YWN-Israel earlier, a symbolic move marking 90 years since Yosef Trumpeldor fell in battle at that location.
