There was a new message for Mayor Bill de Blasio Tuesday night.
As CBS2 Political Reporter Marcia Kramer reported, some constituents said de Blasio needs to reorient his priorities, forget attacking Donald Trump, and fix the city.
The succinct message from many New Yorkers was that de Blasio needs to focus on his day job.
But since the election, the mayor has spent much of his time challenging Republican President-elect Trump. It started just hours after Democrat Hillary Clinton conceded, continued outside Trump Tower just after the mayor met with Trump last week, and included a speech on Monday at Cooper Union.
Kramer asked de Blasio about the concerns about his priorities Tuesday.
Kramer: “Mr. Mayor, you’ve spent much of the last two weeks standing up to Donald Trump. I wonder what you would say to your constituents who say that’s all well and good, but you should focus on dealing with the city’s problems.”
De Blasio: “There’s no contradiction, Marcia. We’re going to work on all the issues of the city, but guess what. There was a national election two weeks ago and it has huge ramifications for New York City and for millions of New Yorkers. So, we have to able to walk and chew gum at the same time. It’s my job to stand up for New Yorkers.”
Some worry about whether the president-elect will get tired of de Blasio’s complaints and seek retribution. The mayor said he does not think so, but others say they are not so sure.

De Blasio focuses on continuing Clinton-Obama’s legacy of integrating Muslim terrorists into the US in order to destroy America from within.
DeBlasio wants to show everyone how he stands up to Trump while the city is failing. Needs to prepare himself for his next job in 2018. Just shows where his priorities are.
he will still get reelected thanks to the askanim and unions who only care for handouts.
Let him blab all day about Trump and ignore the city. Everything he has touched has been a disaster so we are probably better off with him not doing anything. Keep this up.

I wish it was that easy. Unfortunately the corrupt Democrats ALWAYS circle the wagons for one of their own, no matter what. They could be as incompetent & corrupt as can be, but it doesn’t matter. Any challenge to a Democrat incumbent is a sign of capitulation to those evil right wing racist Republicans. Even if no Republican is running, as is the case in NYC because the Republican party is dead.
Only Preet Bharara can save us now.
There may be good news yet. If Trump IS successful, his “new” movement may trickle down to NYC. Remember, “fusion” candidates have been successful before. DeBlassio already has been tainted by scandal. It may not take much to push him out
#6 is right, but maybe Preet can do it, now that well have Sessions and not that corrupt Lynch whom Aguda honored.
please, everyone. leave the commie mayor alone. he knows that being an anarchist is his most important job.
