Defense Rests In Manslaughter Trial Of Elor Azariya

idfThe defense has announced it rests in the manslaughter trial of IDF Sergeant Elor Azariya, who killed a wounded terrorist in Hebron last Purim. The defense completed presenting its summation to the Jaffa Military Court on Sunday, 29 Cheshvan, presenting the court with its 291-page document calling for a total acquittal. Attorneys Eyal Besserglick and Ilan Katz informed the court for the total acquittal and not “because of reasonable doubt” but because their client does not deserve to be convicted.

The defense lawyers announced their surprise when one of the three justices hearing the case, Justice Colonel Heller asked their client with the media present why he was squirming, citing the court’s behavior as “astonishing”.

The defense team is hopeful the case will be decided on its merits based on the evidence and facts brought before the court, admitting this is not the feeling they got during the trial.

They appear in court again on Wednesday, 22 Cheshvan, at which time the defense and prosecution present oral summations and then the court will have to announce a date to announce its ruling.

  1. The whole trial was a disgusting performance.

Elor deserves not only to be set free, but to be given a medal for killing the terrorist, plus financial compensation for the horrible strain he was subjected to.
