NJ Senator Lautenberg Hospitalized

New Jersey – Senator Frank Lautenberg was taken to the hospital after falling at his home in New Jersey on Monday night, a spokesman confirms.

“The Senator was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure,” spokesman Caley Grey said.

Grey did not have any details about how the 86-year-old Democrat fell or about his condition.

Lautenberg is the only current senator to have returned to office after having retired from the Senate.

He was first elected to the Senate in 1982. He was re-elected in 1988 and 1994. After a brief retirement, Sen. Lautenberg won a fourth term in 2002 and was re-elected to a fifth term on November 4, 2008.

Lautenberg is the second oldest member of the Senate, after Robert Byrd of West Virginia.

Senator Lautenberg resides in Cliffside Park. He has a wife, Bonnie, four children and 11 grandchildren.

  1. Can this end up being another “R” in the Senate? If Cristie has to appoint someone, will he have the guts to put an “R” in there??? HOPE SO!!

Your comment is both offensive and disgusting. An 86 year old man suffered a fall and all you can do is gleefully hope for another neo-nazi = neo-con to replace him.
