It Pays To Work For Galei Tzahal (Army Radio)

1The Marker has revealed the salaries of the senior officials employed at Galei Tzahal (Army Radio), revealing it pays to find a job at Israel’s Army Radio. There have been many calls over the years to shut the station down, especially of late as the IDF is in the process of implementing a fiscal rehabilitation program. In addition, the station espouses the viewpoint of the left-wing and is often anti-religious, despite the fact an IDF-affiliated station should be apolitical.

The station’s manager, Yaron Dekel earns NIS 37,311 monthly followed by the senior hosts who earn NIS 32,116.

Life is not bad for anyone employed in the station as the average salary is above the national monthly average, reportedly NIS 15,000 at IDF Radio. On the other hand, that sum is lower than the average monthly salary at the IBA (Israel Broadcast Authority), reporting it to be NIS 19,800.

Regarding the IBA, some of the senior hosts are earning a handsome wage, reporting that Oded Granot earns NIS 55,000 monthly. Israel’s Channel 10 has a salary ceiling for its employees, maxing out at NIS 45,000.

Out of respect for their privacy, the report does not list the salaries of many of the well-known Galei Tzahal hosts including Razi Barkai, Niv Raskin, Assaf Lieberman, Yael Dayan and others.
